Powderhorn Mountain Stats

The Powderhorn Resort in Colorado is traditionally open for the skiing season from the middle of December through the end of March.

The base elevation of the mountains stands 8,200 feet. The summit elevation reaches in excess of 9,850 feet. The steepest vertical drop measures approximately 1,650 feet.

The resort extends over 1,600 acres. Of this acreage, 600 acres are groomed. The area contains 63 trails and 3 terrain parks. The longest trail is called Tenderfoot/Lower Dude and extends 1.8 miles.

The EZ Park is a new course targeting beginning riders and curious parents. The facility abounds with safe rails, rollers, and boxes.

Those guests who master the EZ Park move up to the Peace Park. This course features easy access from the lift and the adjacent Take 4 course. This setting offers something for more advance beginners and seasoned riders. Skiers find rollers and round-bars that alternate to maintain the challenge of the course.

The Upper Peace Park enables riders to touch the sky. The course abounds with unique assets to create fresh runs. Skiers find three jump lines, rails, advanced boxes, among other features.

The resort divides its ski slopes into three levels of expertise. Beginning skiers have access to 20 percent of the grounds. Intermediate skilled participants have access to 50 percent of the ski facilities. Advanced skiers access 30 percent of the slopes dedicated to their skill set.

The resort experiences on average over 250 inches of average snowfall during the season. The facility also manufactures 21 acres of artificial snow during the year.

Visitors to the ski resort find 5 lifts at their disposal. There is one quad-sized lift. Two doubles function at the course. The resort provides 1 surface model. Moreover, there is one magic carpet in service.

During the ski season, the resort maintain fixed hours of operation. The lift ticket office operates daily from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. The administrative desk of the ski school functions from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm. Guest find the learning center for children open from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. The alpine trader is open from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The Sunset Grille provides regular service from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. Lifts to the slopes function from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
