Getting To Aspen

By Air
Aspen, Colorado, is served by the Aspen/Pitkin Airport, the closest airport to the city. A number of flights are available to Aspen from American and United Airlines. Eagle County Airport, 70 miles from Aspen, also offers flights from American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines.

By Car
Visitors can reach Aspen via Denver, a 3.5-hour drive away on I-70. Aspen is just east of Glenwood Springs. During the summer, drivers can enjoy a more scenic route over Independence Pass via Highway 82. During colder months, this route is often closed. Check on road conditions before using this route. Aspen can also be reached from Grand Junction, Colorado, a 2.5-hour drive away. Aspen is also 70 miles from Eagle/Vail, Colorado.

Shuttles are also available to take passengers from the airport to Aspen. These shuttles run for a set fee and all baggage and equipment is carried. Reservations in advance of your trip are recommended.

RVs in Aspen
The city of Aspen has laws that prohibit visitors from sleeping in their vehicles and this law includes RVs. Several campgrounds are available with sites for medium-sized RVs. Recreational vehicles over 35 feet in length are prohibited from traveling on Highways 82 that goes over Independence Pass. Parking is available during the daylight hours for RVs on Monarch Street or at Rio Grande Park. Laws regarding recreational vehicles are intended to preserve the orderly appearance of the city and to protect RV drivers on hazardous roads.

Public Transportation
The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority offers buses with routes that run from Aspen to Snowmass. They also extend to a number of communities around the Aspen area. Though Aspen is a walking community, taxis and hotel shuttles are also available for those who need to get around town.
